The WEgrid Organization
The WEgrid Organization will be realized by an organizational framework designed to translate 1) education requirements from nations and stakeholders and 2) the results of research and innovation into new or changed specifications for the World-Education-Grid. It will enable education and system stakeholders from different countries and organizations to propose, research, refine, design, test, and implement education requirements and innovation. To fill this role, the WEgrid Organization will be structured as two sub-entities, WEgrid BOARDS and WEgrid TRUST. The WEgrid BOARDS will produce and manage the specifications of the World-Education-Grid, and define research directions; the WEgrid TRUST will manage the development and operations of the World-Education-Grid, and related research projects.
WEgrid Governing Board -- The WEgrid Governing Board will govern the entire WEgrid Enterprise. Its main functions will be to appoint the officers of both the WEgrid BOARDS and WEgrid TRUST sub-entities, and to set strategy and policy for both of these entities and for the WEgrid Enterprise as a whole. When the WEgrid Enterprise becomes operational, it will consist of 5-7 members elected by national representatives from the WEgrid BOARDS. Prior to that time, the founding committee of the WEgrid Enterprise will govern.
